Day Seven

SCAN0080

I missed a couple of days. I had these hopes that I could do more than one a day, it’s just not working out. And, there is too much going on at my day job to take a long enough lunch to do any painting and drawing. I started this one at 4:30am and finished it up after work. It’s done, but not what I wanted. Sometimes it just has to be okay that you worked on some art…not that it really turned out.

I might miss tomorrow, but the weekend is almost here, so at least I will do two paintings this weekend. More if I can manage it!

Lunchtime Meditation

Lately I haven’t had much time at work for lunch, it’s just been so busy. Normally I take about 10 minutes to do a little meditation, but for the last couple of weeks (maybe more) I am taking 10 or 15 minutes to sketch instead. It seems to work just as well at energizing me for the afternoon! Now I need to carve out 10 minutes for actual meditation and 10 or 15 minutes of sketching! That would be super awesome for a lunch break!

Maybe a New Year’s Resolution in the making.

Small Studies

These pieces are really small. Just 4″ x 4 1/4″, both are so far just casein. I started with a dark blue stock, crinkled ups tissue paper and then painted over the tissue with casein. When it was almost dry I lifted put the tissue paper. These were taken from photos, but I didn’t do an under sketch, I just boldly put down the paint! Yikes! For me, that is a little scary, but also liberating! I am thinking of keeping the daisy in all casein, the sea urchin I am going to work on top of with colored pencil and maybe graphite…or maybe just graphite!

I may force myself into working without sketching ahead by only working on the darker grounds.
